About
Our Salida office is located in the old Diesslin Harder building, sharing it with Don’t Go Nuts, The Alliance, and Pinto Barn.
Just off US route 50, Salida, CO is known as the “Heart of the Rockies.” Born as a railroad town in 1880, it is now the tourism, service & supply center for the Upper Arkansas Valley, with a population of about 5,300.
Salida and the surrounding area enjoy a relaxed pace and easy access to nature and recreation, while also offering close proximity to the more urban style of Colorado’s Front Range communities.
Though it is surrounded by 14,000-foot snow-capped mountain peaks, Salida sits at 7,000 feet above sea level, so the climate is surprisingly mild. Some people call it the “Banana Belt.” We enjoy snowfall from October through May, though the temperature doesn’t drop too low and we still have summer temperatures reaching into the 80s.
Salida’s downtown is architecturally rich, featuring many commercial buildings that were built at the turn of the 20th century. Since the 1950s, downtown Salida has focused on tourism, recreation and arts-related enterprises, and is a worthwhile stop for anyone visiting the area.
