Buena Vista, co

Buena Vista was settled in 1864 by ranchers and farmers who were drawn to the abundant water supplies they found here. Miners came too, but the presence of agriculture made the Chaffee County area less susceptible to the “boom & bust” cycle of other mining towns. The census in 2010 found a population of 2,617.

Many of the buildings in Buena Vista today were built in the 1880s and 90s, making for a beautifully historic downtown. Some have called it “the best small town main street in America.” Summers are filled with city-sponsored activities like Free Concerts in the Park, Free Yoga in the Courtyard, and many more.

The Arkansas River Valley offers many opportunities to enjoy nature and recreation. With our mild climate, you’ll find plenty of things to do in the sun or snow throughout the whole year.
